Bernie Hanna, M.D., FACS FASMBS
Medical Director
Dr. Hanna is a board-certified general surgeon who has performed bariatric surgery procedures in Southern Nevada for more than 10 years and is internationally recognized Bariatric Surgeon and the founder and Medical Director of Las Vegas Bariatrics.
He serves as the Medical Director for North Vista Hospital. Dr. Hanna has served the trauma surgeon, an assistant clinical professor and is a published medical researcher. Dr. Hanna is an award-winning surgeon, having received ” Top Surgeon” honors and “Top Doctor” awards several years in a row. Proud of their Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence accreditation. Dr. Hanna and his certified team aims to redefine surgical and non-surgical weight loss by emphasizing nutrition, fitness, and group support before as well as after surgery.
Mustafa Ahmed, M.D. , FACS
Dr. Mustafa Ahmed is a board-certified bariatric surgeon that is also a trained obesity medicine physician. Dr. Ahmed began his professional career specializing in Internal Medicine where he took care of many patients who were struggling with obesity and obesity-related diseases.
Dr. Ahmed earned his medical degree from Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Mount Carmel Medical Center. He completed a second residency in general surgery at the Morehouse School of Medicine Program. He received fellowship training in laparoscopic and bariatric surgery at Northwest Hospital and also fellowship trained in surgical critical care.
Dr. Ahmed is involved in critical research for advance in weight loss surgery and internal medicine.
Francis Teng, M.D, FACS
Dr. Teng received his medical degree in 1991 from the University of NV School of Medicine, Reno, NV. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Surgeons, Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons Member, and a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons.
Dr. Teng is board certified in general surgery and has been practicing bariatric surgery since 2002. He specializes in advanced laparoscopic procedures and general surgery.
Shawn Tsuda M.D.
Dr. Shawn Tsuda, MD, MBA, FACS is a board-certified general surgeon specializing in minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic general and bariatric surgery. Dr. Tsuda received his Medical Degree from the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine, completed his residency in general surgery at the University of Nevada School of Medicine and completed his fellowship in minimally invasive & bariatric surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Tsuda is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Board Governor of the Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), and a Board Director of the Viticus Group, a veterinary and human health training facility. Dr. Tsuda has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific articles and is head author of the Textbook of Surgical Skills and Simulation and the Textbook of Robotic Surgery.
In 2008 he won first place in the Top Gun Laparoscopic Skills Shoot-Out at the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons meeting.
Morgan M. Pomeranz, M.D.
Doctor Pomeranz is board-certified by the American Board of surgery.
He is fellowship-trained in advanced minimally invasive Foregut and Bariatric Surgery. His training experience includes fellowship at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston and Bariatric Medical Institute of Texas. Dr. Pomeranz is a compassionate and meticulous surgeon who puts his clients first. He takes joy in being part of the weight loss journey to wellness with his bariatric patients.
Punam V Patel, MD, FACS
Punam V Patel, MD FACS joins Las Vegas Bariatrics with fellowship training and private practice experience in advance minimally invasive Foregut and Bariatric Surgery.
She is a board-certified by the American Board of Surgery. With hundreds of surgeries under her belt she comes to Las Vegas very experienced in bariatric and foregut procedures. Her expertise includes bariatric surgery, anti-reflux surgery, general surgery, advanced laparoscopic, endoscopy and robotic surgery.
Jon Williams, MD
Dr. Jon Williams is a general surgeon who is fellowship trained in Minimally invasive, Robotic, and Bariatric Surgery. He earned his medical degree at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr Williams trained in general surgery at Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California, and then pursued fellowship training at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center focusing on Minimally Invasive, Bariatric and General Surgery.
Dr. Williams has extensive experience in treatment of obesity and metabolic syndrome. He performs laparoscopic bariatric surgery, including gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, removal of gastric bands, bariatric revision surgery, single anastomosis duodenal switch (SADI), robotic, laparoscopic and endoscopic surgeries. His practice provides a comprehensive preoperative, and postoperative treatment plan.
